Colchester Institute

Through their events module, business students of the Braintree Campus planned, promoted and delivered fundraising events while raising awareness of childhood cancer.

Learning Through Giving Back

As part of their studies, the Business students at Colchester Institute, Braintree Campus take on the challenge of organising and delivering fundraising events from start to finish. From budgeting and marketing to event planning and promotion, they gain valuable real-world experience while supporting causes that make a difference.

By choosing to support Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund, the students have not only developed practical skills but have also helped raise awareness of the challenges faced by children and families affected by childhood cancer.

Bringing Families Together

The funds raised by the students helped us run four SOS family support groups for families affected by childhood cancer.

These groups provide a valuable opportunity for children and siblings to meet others who understand what they are going through, build friendships and enjoy fun activities together. They also give parents the chance to connect with other families facing similar challenges, share experiences and find support from pepole who truly understand their journey.

This is a wonderful example of how learning can have a real impact beyond the classroom. The students’ fundraising has helped bring families together, creating opportunities for support, understanding and connection when it is needed most.
