Legacies
Leave a gift in your Will.
Make a lasting difference to children with cancer
Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most powerful ways to support Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund. After taking care of your loved ones, even a small gift can help ensure we can continue supporting children with cancer and their families for generations to come.
Many people say they would consider leaving a gift to charity, but only a small number actually do. Gifts in Wills help keep vital services running, including emotional support, practical help, educational support and our community groups.
A legacy to Lennox doesn’t need to be large. Every gift, whatever the size, makes a difference to the families we support.
How to Leave a Gift in Your Will
Leaving a legacy is simple. You can:
- add Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund to your existing Will using a codicil,
- or, include us when writing a new Will
To include a gift, your solicitor will need the following details:
Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund
26 Hemmells, Laindon, Essex SS15 6ED
Registered Charity in England and Wales: 1011325
Types of Gifts You Can Leave
- Residuary Legacy A residuary gift is a percentage of your estate left after you have taken care of loved ones. This type of gift keeps its value over time and doesn’t need updating if your circumstances change.
- Pecuniary Legacy A pecuniary gift is a fixed amount of money. If you choose this type of legacy, speaking with a solicitor can help you decide what works best for your situation.
What if My Circumstances Change?
Your Will can be written so that it automatically adapts to changes in your circumstances. This means:
- your loved ones remain protected
- you can still support the causes you care about, if anything remains in your estate
Your solicitor can guide you on wording that ensures your wishes are respected.
Tax Benefits
Gifts to charity are exempt from inheritance tax.
This means the value of any gift you leave to Lennox is deducted from your estate before inheritance tax is calculated.
If You Live Abroad
If you own property or assets overseas, it’s important to get specialist legal advice to make sure your Will covers everything correctly.
Already Have a Will?
If you already have a Will, updating it is easier than you may think.
You can:
- add a codicil (a simple legal amendment)
- or write a new Will if you wish to make several changes
Any updates should be completed with the help of a qualified solicitor to ensure your Will remains valid.
Download the codicil form here.
Your solicitor will arrange for it to be signed and witnessed correctly.
