From a very young age Teddy has had a big heart, he absolutely adores animals, from soft toys to trips to the farm, and loves spending time with their family dog, Willow. But when Teddy was just six months old, his parents noticed he wasn’t well. What seemed like a routine chest infection persisted for months, despite multiple doctor visits and several rounds of antibiotics. Eventually, tests revealed what no parent ever wants to hear – Teddy had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer.
The diagnosis turned their world upside down. Overnight, Scott had to step away from his work as a bar manager and personal trainer, while the family faced immense emotional and financial strain. Through it all, Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund has been there for Teddy and his family. Offering emotional, financial assistance when it was desperately needed, and respite breaks that allowed them to simply be a family again amidst the chaos of treatment.
Taking on the 11:11 Challenge was Katie and Scott’s way of giving back, honouring Teddy’s journey and supporting other families facing childhood cancer. The challenge involved walking 50 miles from Great Ormond Street Hospital back to their home in just 24 hours, with “Superted” carried along the way. The “11:11 Challenge” was named because Teddy was born at 11:11 on 11th May. These numbers have always held special meaning for them.
With Fiona and Callum cheering them on at the start, they set off with determination, handing out over 200 flyers to raise awareness of Lennox as they went. Strangers stopped to donate, including one man who handed them cash after reading their poster.
Katie made it an incredible 40 miles carrying a heavy backpack before needing to stop, while Scott pushed on to complete the final stretch, crossing the finish line at 50 miles. Together, they have already raised over £5,000, plus a further £900 in Gift Aid, to help us support families affected by childhood cancer.

Katie and Scott shared: “Teddy has taught us so much about bravery, courage, and resilience. We are so proud to watch him grow, thrive, and face life with such strength. Taking on this challenge was our way of supporting him and other families who are going through similar journeys.”
