Superheroes, Disney Princesses, Pirates, and Star Wars characters descended on St. Michaels Church Hall, Benfleet on Sunday March 13th to bring joy, happiness, and lasting memories to the true heroes, the amazing and incredibly brave children of Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.
We wanted to have a brilliant event post-COVID, to bring together families with children with cancer for a fun day of activities, games, and unforgettable memories. We had the invaluable help and support of The Thundersley Superhero Alliance, A Fairy Tale Dream (Disney Princesses), Blackwater Pirates and Essex Cosplay to bring the magic and make it a memorable day, and what an incredibly memorable day it was!
Many of the families we help have never met another family who truly understands the emotional rollercoaster that is childhood cancer. We recognised that this needed to change in order to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation over the last two years, and with the help of Simon Foxen and St Michaels Church, we were able to do so. It was lovely to see all the children playing and the parents chatting. It was truly heart-warming for everyone who was present. I’m grateful that we were able to bring some magic and happiness to our families during their darkest days.
