To mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September, we are launching ‘A Star for a Star’ exhibitions at shopping centres across the South East to raise awareness and vital funds for our charity.
The initiative allows local businesses to sponsor a star which will be displayed within a public exhibition at Bluewater throughout September. Each star represents the bravery and strength of children fighting cancer in the UK. Guests at the shopping centres, including Bluewater, The Brewery, Arc Shopping Centre, Culver Square, High Chelmer and Buttermarket Centre, will be able to visit the exhibitions and hear the stories of the children fighting cancer on our online experiences.
Leading partnership homebuilder Keepmoat Homes, whose Cable Wharf riverside development is close to Bluewater, has become the first business to support the appeal and will be the official campaign sponsor.
We are immensely proud to be working with Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund and Bluewater on such a fantastic initiative. The Star for a Star campaign is a fantastic way for businesses to get involved and show their support for families who are undergoing vital treatment.
We hope that Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund raises a huge amount to help support the incredible work that they do with young people and their families – the children affected are the real stars here.
Special Delivery
Keepmoat Homes were extremely kind to offer one of our Star for a Star children, Fred, a tour of their large site at Cable Wharf, near to our flagship store in Bluewater, Kent. Fred was even delivered some very special tickets to nearby Diggerland, in a huge front loader, which was carrying a skip with his name on!
Magical gifts from Bluewater
Fred and his family then travelled to nearby Bluewater, our flagship store for our Star for a Star exhibitions, to enjoy a 1:1 magic show and to receive gifts from the very generous team at Bluewater.
We’re honoured to be hosting this exhibition for such a worthy cause here at Bluewater and it’s great to be able to support such an admirable charity like the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund. We’re sure the initiative will raise vital funds with the backing from local businesses and we know our guests will be inspired about the work of the charity via the exhibition during Children’s Cancer Month this year.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the financial toll on a family is immense; we help these families by providing vital Care & Crisis grants.
Bluewater has given us the opportunity to showcase our incredible work. Raising awareness of this terrible disease by approaching local businesses and asking them to sponsor a star will help us raise these critical funds and continue to support these incredibly brave children and their families during this time of emotional devastation and financial strain. Thank you so much to Keepmoat Homes for opening this campaign and sponsoring the first star.
